So hard to believe there are only nine days left until Christmas! Today I am sharing a trio of cards made with the 3Birds Quilled Holiday Card kit.
When it comes to quilling I’m an absolute beginner – so if any of our readers are expert quillers, please forgive any mistakes I’ve made or terminology I get wrong. The kit is wonderful because it contains not only lots of card bases, but also quilling tools and loads of pre-cut paper strips in assorted colors and designs. There are also directions explaining the basics and a plethora of sample ideas. Here is what I came up with using the kit:
I love that the card bases come in so many fun shapes and designs. The first card was created using a round window base.
I rolled up strips of red paper using the quilling tool and popped them into the two smallest size holes in the measuring thingy. Our new Fabric Fuse™ liquid glue worked well to hold them in place. Fabric Fuse dries clear, yet stays flexible and gets into all the curved edges of the quilled piece of paper.
Once the rolls were set, I adhered them to the card front over the wreath and holly leave punch outs. In this photo you can see the window on the front of the card more clearly.
3D Foam Squares were used to give the wreath a bit more dimension.
Here is a better look at the inside of the card. The sentiment is stamped. Everything else was in the kit.
The next card is really fun – the base is a shadow box frame. Love the way this looks! The kit even comes with a variety of inserts cut to fit the inside of the shadow box perfectly.
To give the frame around the edge a bit more stability (which would be especially helpful if the card is being mailed), I added 3D Foam Squares to the inside, as shown here:
Everything except the silver string comes in the kit. I really appreciated the way everything coordinated. This kit would be fun to use at a cardmaking party or crafty girls night out.
The poinsettia, as well as the fringe in the center of the flower above, are two of the different shaped quilling strips available in the kit.
For the ornaments card I used one of the red petal strips to create the poinsettia. For the last card, I layered a dark and light red strip on top of one another to create the flower in the lower right corner. Everything but the green ribbon – and adhesive – came in the kit.
Thanks so much for visiting today! I hope you and your loved ones have a wonderful holiday and very happy new year!
