Hello crafty friends! Lauren Lovato here, a.k.a Sonoran Starfish Designs, and I’m super excited to be here guest designing for ThermoWeb! The theme this week is “Wings” so I immediately reached for the gorgeous printed “Butterfly Fly Away” card fronts covered in butterflies. I created these cards with a rainbow of butterflies, made with the new Fairytale Foils, and my all-time favorite, Gold Shattered Glass foil.

Rainbow Foiled Butterfly Cards

I made a video of the process that you can watch here:

For this first card, I wanted a rainbow trailing down the card front.
I started by stenciling a background with Champagne Mist Metallix DecoFoil Gel. It has the prettiest shimmer when it catches the light!
After setting it aside to dry, I started fussy cutting the butterflies out of the card panel. I used small scrap pieces of DecoFoil in the colors Enchanted Rose, Peach Princess, Gold Shattered Glass, Lily Pad, Glass Slipper, and Prince Periwinkle, and ran them through the laminator.
I bent the wings up slightly to create a deep dimension and adhered them to the dried stenciled panel with liquid glue.
I took the negative of a foiled image with Gold Shattered Glass from the “Joni” printable by Ann Corbiere-Scott and stuck it to a piece of cardstock covered with an adhesive sheet. I trimmed around the sentiment and adhered it to the card panel.
For the second card, I repeated the stenciling and foiling process and sliced the butterflies in half. I arranged them around the edges with liquid glue. I repeated the same process for using the negative of a foiled printable.
I hope you enjoyed this rainbow of butterflies! These foils are absolutely stunning, and I loved making these projects! Be sure to follow ThermoWeb’s social media pages for more fun inspiration!

We’re so thankful Lauren said yes when we asked her to guest design with us! And you know how it all started? We noticed her projects on Instagram using our products. It’s just as simple as that!
Here’s a little bit about Lauren…

Lauren is a full-time speech pathologist and mom of 6-year-old twin girls. She lives in Phoenix, Arizona but is originally from the Northeast. Her social media name “Sonoran Starfish Designs” combined her current home in the Sonoran desert with her childhood love of the ocean! She has been crafting for a long time but started card making 8 years ago when she got her first Cricut. She found the Stamp Junkies group on Facebook, bought a MISTI and the rest is history!

We’d like to invite you to follow Lauren on Instagram where we first found her! We think you’ll agree…her work is beautiful! Lauren will be back with another project so be sure to sign up for our blog emails to keep update!
