Hi Everyone,  It’s Becky from Patchwork Posse.  Home of fun sewing projects, quilt alongs, and a lot of chit chat!

I was lucky enough to give the Magic Pattern Book by Amy Barickman a try and can I say I love it?!!  This book is really a lot of fun.  The pattern I picked to make was the tank— specifically the Alice.

I decided to go with some ribbing fabric, which turned out great…except that the fabric has sat for too long on the fold and the little-faded line shoots right down the center of the shirt.  Which of course I didn’t notice until the whole thing was done and it was one. So… FYI…  check your fabric you are using by opening it up!

This pattern is so fun.  Great piece to wear on its own or layer with a few other pieces depending on the weather.

The book is so well written. Instructions are fantastic.  The shapes and construction couldn’t be any easier.  I made this top in 1 hour. I think it took me longer to print and piece the templates together longer than the actual sewing!

There is no zipper or elastic on this top– super simple and perfect for beginners who are dipping their toe into clothing construction.  Even the neck and armholes were a cinch to sew!  The pattern seemed right on size.  Mine might be a little big, but my seam allowance has a tendency to be 1/4″ instead of the 5/8″ because I usually am sewing quilts.

I would definitely give this pattern another try.  I’m looking out for a cute scarf or hankie to make the skirt out of.

The next pattern on my list is the vest….oh that vest. Such great lines and design.

If you are not big on hemming, use the Therm-o-web HeatnBond Lite tape.  This makes hem making quick and perfect.
