Holiday Cards with Deco Foil and Rina K. Designs

There are so many things to do with Flock Transfer Sheets! Some of my favorite things are to treat it like cardstock – a fun and fuzzy cardstock! I like to die cut it and use it for backgrounds. Today I’ll show you how to stamp on Deco Foil Flock Transfer Sheets as well as use it with a stencil and Deco Foil Transfer Gel DUO!

I started by creating my background. I sprayed the back of the Gina K Designs Fizzy Stencil with a bit of Pixie Spray and tacked it onto a piece of white cardstock. My biggest tip for Pixie Spray is to hold your spray up in the air and spray a light even layer of Pixie Spray. Your Pixie Spray shouldn’t look clumpy on your stencil.

Then really press it onto your background so it doesn’t move ( in my video I share a tip of using your Stencil Pal to get even pressure to adhere your stencil! ). I used a Stencil Pal and spread a thin even layer of Deco Foil Transfer Gel DUO over the stencil. I removed the stencil and set the background aside to dry for a couple of hours.

You’ll know when the Deco Foil Transfer Gel DUO is dry because it changes from white to clear. The gel should also be slightly tacky, but not super sticky. I wanted a bright and happy background, so I reached for the Rina K Designs Poppin’ Pink Neon Flock Transfer Sheets. I trimmed a piece to be slightly larger than my background and placed it “pretty side” down into the DUO Gel background and ran it through my die cutting machine.

I peeled back the Poppin’ Pink Flock and I had a pretty white background with pink dots! Buuuutttt … I liked the negative piece just as much – if not better – than the intended background! I’m always telling you not to throw these pieces in the trash and today I made two cards from one background piece using the “throwaway” portion of the Flock Transfer Sheet!

Now let’s do some more with Flock! I stamped on two colors of Flock Transfer Sheets – White Latte and Black Velvet. It’s important to remember that Flock is a textured surface, so your stamping won’t be as clear and crisp as stamping on cardstock, but I think the texture adds a fun element to your project!

I did a lot of experimenting and I found that pigment inks work best for stamping on Flock, but you certainly can use dye or hybrid as well! I stamped some snowflakes from the Gina K Designs StampnFoil Baby It’s Cold Outside Stamp Set using white pigment ink on the Black Velvet Flock and black pigment ink on the White Latte Flock. I used a stamping platform and stamped about 3 or 4 times to really build up the color.

I used the Gina K Designs StampnFoil Baby It’s Cold Outside Coordinating Dies and a bit of Purple Tape to cut out the snowflakes. I love the contrasting colors! I stamped a couple of sentiments from the Gina K Designs StampnFoil Baby It’s Cold Outside Stamp Set to go with my cards and cut them out with scissors.

It’s important to use the right adhesives when working with Flock. This is such a textured surface and you want to make sure your card isn’t going to fall apart! iCraft Ultra Bond Liquid Adhesive is always the first glue I reach for! I used the iCraft Ultra Bond Liquid Adhesive to glue the snowflakes onto my card and then a couple of Gina K Designs White Foam Squares to pop up my sentiment. However – since I was adding my sentiment onto the Flock snowflakes I added a dab of iCraft Ultra Bond Liquid Adhesive to the foam square to make sure it would hold.

I just love these two Flock covered cards! They have so much dimension and texture! I hope you’ve picked up some helpful tips, too. See you soon!
