Hey hey!  Katrina here today from Paper, Scissors, Glue and Hybrid Too sharing a couple of fun spins on a love-themed layout. The first spin is that it’s a Christmas layout and the second spin is that I created a heart shaker using the Deco Foil Clear Toner Sheets.

Heart Shaker Layout Details

For this layout, I knew I wanted the focal point to be a big heart, along with the picture.  So this is actually a very “simple” layout as far as embellishing, but it turned out how I wanted it!

Create the Heart

First up was creating the heart.  I found a cut file for my Silhouette Cameo to use and created an offset for it so that I could make it into a shaker heart. If you don’t know what the offset is, it’s the white outline that you see with the open area. When you create an offset, it creates two hearts that are cut out at the same time…one outside and one inside..which in turn, created the opening.  I knew I wanted to use the Doodle Clear Toner Sheet in the open area of the shaker.  I also wanted to use that pink ombre paper in some way with the heart.

The new Deco Foil Transfer Sheets in Enchanted Rose matched the pink colors so perfectly, that I had to use that color.  I debated between green and pink, but I am a pink girl!  Because my heart was so big, I foiled the entire clear sheet with one full sheet and 1/2 of one of the transfer sheet.

And look at that pink shine!

Create the Shaker Base

Once my clear toner sheet was foiled, I decided that I wanted to use it on the back part of the heart shake. I also needed a clear sheet for the front part of the heart. I cut out two more hearts from my Cameo. One from the pink paper and then one from a clear toner sheet. Also, to make sure my clear toner sheets adhered well, I used the Ultra Bond Liquid Adhesive to adhere to the toner sheets.  After my foiled toner sheet was adhered to the pink paper, I just trimmed it with scissors.

For the cut setting on the clear toner sheet, I used the Rhinestone Template preset in the Silhouette Studio software.  I cut the heart twice, not sure if that is the in preset. I may have changed that setting.

Add Gina K. Designs Foam Tape for Dimension

In order to give the front heart some height, I added a double layer of Gina K Designs Foam Tape around the edge of the top heart. Once I had all my foam tape down, I ran my anti-static tool on both toner sheets before filling and putting them together.

Here’s a tip, cut shorter lengths to work with. I found if I used longer lengths, I had some bunching in areas. To easily fit the tape, cut the strips in half and placed them close to the inside edge.

Finishing Up the Shaker Heart

I did cut a few shapes (hearts, snowflakes, trees) from paper to put in my shaker, but I am not the best at judging how much to put in!  I went a little overboard with glitter and beads, so you don’t see the shapes much!

After the shaker was filled, I then removed the protective backing from the foam tape and placed the pink toner sheet heart on top.  I added some doilies around the edge to tie in some more green and viola, shaker done!  I “shook” it for the picture below!

And a close up of that sweet moment that the Grinch’s heart “grew two sizes that day”!!  Hazel wasn’t scared at all of him!

Thanks for joining me today!!  Think about those “love” layouts for other than Valentine’s Day!!!  Happy crafting!
