Hello everyone, it’s Juliana with you today! Mother’s Day is this weekend and I hope you all have something wonderful planned to celebrate and show appreciation to the mother or mother figure in your life. To show my mother in law just how special she is to me, I created her a beautiful handmade card using Therm O Web’s new DecoFoil™ Adhesive Pen and Deco Foil Stencils.

Therm O Web iCraft® DecoFoil™ White Foam Adhesive
Therm O Web iCraft® DecoFoil™ – Spring Green
Therm O Web DecoFoil™ Stencil – Happy

Therm O Web 3D White Foam Squares – 1/2 inch
Therm O Web iCraft Easy-Tear Tape-  1/2 inch

Project Instructions:

To create the card, I selected the new Spring Green DecoFoil™ and the Happy Stencil.

I wanted to incorporate the watercolor trend into my card design, so I choose to use the stencil and Adhesive Pen on watercolor paper. This gives the foil a more distressed look since the surface is not completely smooth, however, I think it goes well with the overall design.

TIP: When using the Adhesive Pen, I recommend a light hand when applying the adhesive. If you are having trouble with the adhesive leaking under the stencil, apply the adhesive to the back of the stencil and let it dry. Once the adhesive is dry, the stencil will be tacky and will stay in place as you apply the adhesive. Make sure to let the adhesive dry for approximately 30 seconds to 1 minute before you place the foil over your design.TooltipText
I choose to use the laminator method to adhere the foil to the word Happy. Remember to turn your laminator on to the 5mil setting and allow it to warm up for at least 10 minutes. When it is warmed up, place the foil-covered adhesive design inside a folded piece of parchment paper and place the project into the laminator, using the crease as the lead edge. Remove the project from parchment paper and peel the transfer sheet away from dthe esign.

After I had created my foiled sentiment, I used stamps, water, a paint brush and Distress Ink to create the floral watercolor design.

For the final step in creating my card, I made a coordinating foiled piece to mount my design on using the iCraft White Foam Adhesive. I simply cut the foam to the size of the card front (4.25 x 5.5) and then applied a piece of Spring Green DecoFoil™ to it.

TIP: I have one last tip to share with you today. The new DecoFoil Adhesive Pick Up Squares are perfect for removing the excess adhesive from your stencils after you have used them with the Deco Foil™ Adhesive Liquid Pen. All you have to do is rub the Square on the stencil and the adhesive will come right off.TooltipText
