Winter Scene Layout Details

First step to your layout is figuring out the background.  I wanted some silver on there, so I used some Glitz Glitter Gel with a stencil from LDRS to add the silver and some texture to the background.

Next, using the 6×6 paper from LDRS I created a layered, offset background after the Glitz Glitter Gel had dried using my Therm O Web Memory Runner XL.

As you can see above, I trimmed some of the paper to use to attached to the top and bottom of my picture.  I used the iCraft Easy Tear adhesive to apply the strips, as the strip from the tape runner was a little too big.  I then applied 3D Foam Squares to the back of my picture for some lift.

Once I had my middle section figured out, I then started working on embellishing and creating a scene for my layout.  I love doilies and I loved the snow globe and wanted to try to pair them together.  I didn’t plan on it, but when I printed my pictures they fit perfectly in the center of the doily and for the center of the snow globe.

I used the print and cut on my Silhouette Cameo to print my pictures in a circle and cut them out. You could also use a circle punch, but I didn’t have one big enough for what I thought I wanted to do.  The snow globe die fell onto my picture and there the idea bloomed!!  I used Purple Tape and only applied it to the die and the outside area of the die so that it wouldn’t pull up any of the printed pictures.  This worked great to keep the die in the place I needed it to be.

Once I had my picture ready to go, I stamped and die cut the snow globe itself.  I used some dye ink and water to color in the pink area.  I used a Nuvo Silver glitter pen to color in the snow area.  The Gina K Foam Squares were perfect to add to the back of the picture so that the picture didn’t sit too high.  If you didn’t know, the Gina K Squares are thinner than the 3D Foam Squares!

Last, but not least, it was time to start creating the bottom snowy scene. I cut a template out of cardstock for my snowy drifts.  Using the templates, I hand cut the Deco Foil Foam Adhesive. I then applied the Deco Foil Flock to the two pieces I hand cut and ran thru my Gemini Jr. to transfer the flock to the foam.  I then applied the two pieces to the bottom of my layout.  Sorry, the picture of the cut flock pieces didn’t turn out!

Part of the scene is the deer and trees right?!  I stamped a bunch of trees in various shades of green and pink. I also stamped a few deer and colored them with Zig Markers. It’s quicker to stamp a bunch of items and then die cut all at once.

And the deer turned out so cute!!!!  In the picture, you can also see the snowdrift that the flock made. I used the snow swirl stamps and randomly stamped around the white cardstock. I used the same colors as I did for the trees.
