Banners of Hope is a project designed to inspire Hope through the creation of small fabrics based banners expressing messages of hope and encouragement in a subtle artistic format and are intended to be displayed in public locations that benefit those in challenging circumstances. For additional information contact: [email protected]

I created this banner with the Hope that we all are able to breathe clean, fresh air everyday of our lives. We need to do whatever is necessary to make this happen for those of us on earth at this moment and to assure future generations have the same chance.

How to:

Prepare cotton fabric pieces by ironing HeatnBond® lite to the back of each of the prints following the manufacturer’s instructions.

Remove paper backing and attach fabric to the Brother Scan n Cut cutting mat. Select designs, adjust pattern sizes; scan in the fabric attached to the cutting mat and move cutting patterns on top of fabric scan. Cut out multiples of the patterns as desired.

Lay pattern cut-outs onto the cotton canvas backing fabric and press creating the banner design.

Pattern-Lay-Out

Stitch a wavy line across the width of the banner. Continue stitching along either side of the wavy lines until the pattern cutouts have been covered by stitching.

With the banner back facing up, apply PeelnStick™ to each of the side edges. Turn the edges over and finger press. Remove the paper backing from the tape and press the hem in place. Repeat to hem the bottom edge of the banner.

Hemming-the-Sides

With banner back facing up, apply PeelnStick™ along the top edge of the banner. Measure down 2 inches; fold over and press using an iron along the folded edge to create a rod pocket. Remove the paper backing from the tape and press the bottom edge of the rod pocket in place.

Final-Hemming

Following the manufacturer’s directions; apply crystals to the centers of each of the flowers.
